Malezi and Sadili post mixed results

Malezi School and Sadili Oval Sports Academy tennis players posted mixed results in the Virgin Atlantic Sadili Emerging Players Tour of the UK.

Malezi, who are national schools champions for the last nine years, joined forces with players from Banda School and Hillcrest Secondary, who are under the Sadili stable, to offer experience to 10 talented juniors, with the support of Virgin Atlantic Airways and various schools in the UK.

Reports from Sadili Director Liz Odera indicated that Malezi School boys routed Haileybury 9-1 in singles and doubles, while the girls were no contest, losing doubles matches 0-2 in a bravely fought but totally overwhelmed situations.

The Malezi Boys team, comprising of Amadi Kagoma, Euan Nesbitt, Jamin Luvembe, Richard Onyango and Henry Ayesiga, made short work of their opponents in singles and doubles.

David Nesbitt improved, just dropping one game to lose a tight match against number five Haileybury player in singles.

Portia Morey (Hillcrest) and partner Lornah Bweje (Malezi) were unable to stop their opponents, while youthful Emily Stonewigg/Georgia Taylor fought bravely before succumbing to opposition from Haileybury.

Malezi School grabbed an early lead beating Oundle 7-4 in a meet that saw the boys take 3 out of 4 singles and 2 out of 3 doubles. The girls won one out of two singles and one out of two doubles on day one of the event.
