Kenya National Congress (KNC) is gaining traction in Kisii region after Ford People party folded to join Jubilee. Kisii gubernatorial aspirant Manson Nyamweya says KNC is the party to watch in the run-up to the August election.

KNC has received many nomination applications as those disenchanted with major political parties seek a political home.

A recent notice in local dailies announced Nyamweya as KNC party’s leader. With his remarks that the party will support the National Super Alliance (NASA) in the August elections, the party is likely to have an easy way owing to the fact that the region remains a stronghold of opposition leader Raila Odinga.

Already the party has received local ODM Secretary Samuel Mogusu and Treasurer Ben Nyamoko who defected. Former Bonchari MP Charles Onyancha also defected from Wiper party to KNC.
