Apologise or I sue, Supreme Court Judge Njoki Ndung’u tells businessman over tweets

Supreme Court Judge Njoki Ndung’u

Supreme Court Judge Njoki Ndung’u wants businessman Jacob Juma to apologise for linking her to bribery allegations.

The claims are at the centre of a probe against her colleague Justice Philip Tunoi.

Justice Ndung’u, in a demand letter to Mr Juma dated February 2, wants the businessman to publish an apology within 48 hours. She wants advertisements made in The Standard, Daily Nation and The Star and also on his Twitter page, failure to which he will face court action.

The judge is further demanding that the self-acclaimed tycoon deletes the “offending Twitter publications linking her to the bribery claims”. “Take notice that we have instructions to demand that the following steps have to be taken immediately,” the letter by Andrew Musangi, Justice Ndungu’s lawyer, read in part.

The judge said she would only delve into the issue of damages in respect to the injury after the conditions of apology are met. She argued that the tweets were meant to portray her as corrupt.
