Nairobi woman burns house help over spoilt milk

Leila Ombeva

Nairobi, Kenya: A house help is nursing serious burns on her breasts after her employer allegedly burnt her following an argument.

Leila Ombeva, a sales woman at a blue-chip company in the city, has been accused of attacking and injuring her house help Loise Mbone on October 17 in Buruburu.

According to police the accused woke up at around 7am to prepare breakfast only to realise that the milk her house help had bought the previous night had gone bad.

The prosecution said that Ombeva summoned the house help and gave her a dressing down over the spoilt milk.

The court heard that the argument degenerated into a scuffle as the two women locked horns.

The commotion allegedly attracted curious neighbours.

The court heard that Mbone overpowered the accused forcing the neighbours to separate the two. It is said that the Leila left the scene, dashed into the house only to return with boiling water which she intended to use in preparing the tea.

The court heard that the accused poured the hot water on the complainant’s chest, seriously burning both her breasts.

The house help also suffered serious injuries in her eyes, on her hands and back.

Leila denied the charge and was released on a Sh50,000 bond.

The case will be mentioned on November 28, 2015.
