IFMIS website http://www.ifmis.go.ke/ was inaccessible by the time of going to press. According to the government, IFMIS “is an automated system that is used for public financial management. It interlinks planning, budgeting, expenditure management and control, accounting, audit and reporting.” It is designed to improve systems for financial data recording, tracking and information management. Also hacked was the website for Immigration and Registration of Persons http://www.mirp.go.ke/ and http://www.westernkenya.go.ke/. The attacks came just days after the group took control of Kenya Defense Forces’ account and that of spokesman Major Emmanuel Chirchir. However, earlier yesterday the gropu vowed to infiltrate Israel government’s online resources to protest the country’s bombardment of Gaza in which more than 600 people have died.
