Atwoli to PM: Sack Prof Nyong’o now

By Francis Ontomwa

The Central Organisation of Trade Unions (COTU) will thoroughly scrutinise presidential aspirants before advising Kenyans on who to vote for.

The organisation has warned the numerous presidential aspirants that they would not go far in the race if their manifestoes ignored the plight of workers.

COTU boss Francis Atwoli said all trade unions will meet at the end of November to show Kenyans the direction to take when casting their ballots in March next year.

“We are meeting in November to endorse the candidate we shall support in next year’s General elections, of course after thorough scrutiny,” he said.

He added that COTU would not back politicians who have failed to deliver while in office.

The umbrella body of trade unions further called for sacking of Medical Services Minister Anyang’ Nyong’o.

Insensitive professor

Mr Atwoli said millions of Kenyans were dying in hospitals just because authorities had failed to perform their duties.

“We will not let those who have made Kenyans suffer return to office,” said Atwoli.

He charged that ODM will not form the next government if the medical services minister is not sacked.

“The Prime Minister is my friend but he had better be warned that he will not form the next government if the likes of Prof Nyong’o are still in office,” he added.

Mr Atwoli was speaking in Butere district during a harambee in aid of Mutoma Catholic Church.

He said Prof Nyong’o was very insensitive to ordinary Kenyans and was making ODM very unpopular.

“These top party officials, led by Professor Nyong’o cannot even articulate issues,” he added.
