Laikipia West Sub-County Police Commander, Kotobu Molu, has died.

Molu succumbed to Covid-19 on Friday, April 16 at the Nanyuki Teaching and Referral Hospital, where he had been receiving treatment.

Laikipia West Deputy County Commissioner, Hezron Nyamberi, confirmed to The Standard news of Molu’s demise.

“Two weeks ago, he was admitted to Nanyuki Hospital with Covid-19. His condition was improving, and we hoped he’d pull through. His death has come as a shock to us,” said Nyamberi.

The deputy county commissioner described the Late Molu as a “hard-working public servant, who played an important role in improving security in Laikipia West”.

“His contribution in fighting banditry will remain etched in our minds,” said Nyamberi.

Until his ailment two weeks ago, Molu was Laikipia West’s chief security personnel in administration of the 2020 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) exam.

The deceased will be buried at his Marsabit home later Friday, April 16, Nyamberi said.
