Police in Machakos have launched a manhunt for a man suspected to be behind the murder of Sheila Wegesha, a popular Ohangla dancer, whose lifeless body was found in her house in Athi River, Machakos County.

The suspect, identified as Jack Bamboo, is the deceased’s husband. He went missing following the discovery of his wife’s body.

The police traced Bamboo’s car to a parking lot in Nairobi’s Central Business District, next to KenCom, using a tracking device.

The last signal from the suspect was traced to Narok at around 6:30 a.m. on Thursday, May 9.

Wesley Lang’at, a crime investigations officer from Athi River sub-county, confirmed that they received a murder report from Hills View Estate on the same day.

The body of the deceased, 38, was discovered in bed by her 18-year-old daughter.

The police reported that the body, discovered at about 1 p.m., had a deep cut in the throat and was surrounded by a pool of blood.

Investigators are looking for the deceased’s husband, who was reportedly seen in the house hours earlier.

He is said to have left the house past midnight on Wednesday without informing the other family members present. He left in his car, according to the daughter.

The detectives expressed their intention to speak with the man regarding the issue. The motive behind the murder is yet to be determined.

The daughter reported that she had prepared lunch for her mother and went to wake her up, only to discover that she was dead.

Upon arrival at the scene, the police processed it before moving the body to the mortuary pending autopsy.

The couple ran a popular bar in the Umoja area, Nairobi.
