IG Koome, Judge Lessit appointed members of Crime Research Centre Council

Inspector General of Police Japhet Koome and Justice Jessie Lesiit have been appointed to the governing council of the National Crime Research Centre (NCRC).

Koome will represent the Police in the council while Lesiit will represent the Chief Justice.

Their appointment was announced in a gazette notice dated May 26, by the NCRC chairperson and Attorney General Justin Muturi.

They will be joined by Kenneth Odhiambo (Treasury), Jacinta Nyamosi (DPP), Maurice Tsuma (Commissioner for Social Services), John Warioba (Prisons) and Mary Mbau (Principal Probation Officer).

Others are Judith Adongo, Samuel Ndiritu and Laureen Muisyo who can be appointed by the minister to represent the fields of criminal law, sociology or criminology or represent universities.

In the gazette notice, President William Ruto announced the appointment of Ann Wambui Njuguna to chair the Uwezo Fund Oversight Board.

Wambui will serve for a period of three years effective from May 26, 2023.

Central Bank Governor Patrick Njoroge also announced the name change of First Community Bank Limited to Premier Bank Kenya Limited.

The name change comes after Somalia's Premier Bank Limited completed a 62.5 per cent stake acquisition of First Community Bank.

Treasury CS announced the appointment of Nicholas Kamuya Ng'arua as a member of the Board of Directors of the Capital Markets Authority (CMA).

Kamuya will serve for a period of three years from May 26.

Ndung'u also appointed Hillary Marrimoi and Raymond Nyamweya as members of the Competition Tribunal for a period of three years from May 26.

The CS also announced the appointment of Tom Kimaru, Sammy Chepkwony, Caroline Bosco and Rosemary Wanjiru Thiongo as members of the Insurance Tribunal for a period of three years from May 26.

Ndung'u also appointed Timothy Kimathi and Anthony Kiprono as members of the Retirement Benefits Appeals Tribunal for a period of three years from May 26.

ICT CS Eliud Owalo revoked the appointments of David Mwangi Kuria and Ezekiel Onyango as members of the Council of the Kenya Institute of Mass Communication.

He replaced them with Evalyn Koiyan and Bevin Angellah Bhoke in their place. They will serve for a period of three years from May 26.
