Comedian Akuku Danger has taken to social media to update netizens on his health condition, extending gratitude to his fans and family for continually supporting him as he battles sickle cell anaemia.

The comedian said he had been in hospital for the past few weeks but is now recovering from home.

“Thank y’all for your uplifting messages. I’m out of danger already just recovering from home. To caregivers, parents to sickle cell warriors and warriors themselves keep faith steadfast we will conquer one day. The pain we get from these painful crises only you can feel it. We soldier on nonetheless,” he wrote.

In a previous post, the comedian opened up on his battle, terming sickle cell as a monster. In his explanation, individuals with the condition could be okay one minute and the next they could be in hospital fighting for their life.

“These past few weeks God has come through for me. Sickle Cell is a monster man. One minute you going about your business and working hard to chase this bag and the next minute you fighting for your life in the hospital,” he wrote.

Clarifying his reasons for posting himself while in hospital, Akuku stated that he did not want sympathy but rather be a source of encouragement to all the sickle cell warriors out there.

“I am posting this not for sympathy or anything but for all the sickle cell warriors out there who are looking for inspiration and Yes! YOU ARE ALL STRONGER THAN YOU THINK!! We are Back Now!! All Good and out of the hospital. Tuendelee na Kazi,” he went on.

Sometime in 2022, Akuku Danger’s condition took a turn for the worse as he developed lung failure and a kidney infection forcing him to spend weeks in ICU and later the High Dependency Unit.

According to actress Sandra Dacha, Akuku had earlier visited the hospital and was sent back home before his condition worsened.

After his full recovery, Akuku thanked Sandra for her support, thanking her for taking care of him.

“Finding someone who can be by your side through thick and thin is not easy. Sandra was there for me throughout… Taking care of me in hospital and ensuring all was well. I love and appreciate her for that. Most people would have left. We have been together for 7 months and yes she is mine,” he told the Standard.
