Legendary Congolese songstress Mbilia Bel is set to launch this year’s festive season with an unforgettable performance for rhumba lovers at the Carnivore Simba Saloon, Nairobi, on Saturday, November 2, 2024.

Presented as part of the Pan African Festival and sponsored by Standard Group’s Radio Maisha, the event promises an enchanting evening of music, dance, and celebration, spotlighting the rich cultural diversity of African music.

This special event aims to unite the continent’s vibrant musical tapestry, showcasing incredible talent and paying homage to Africa’s cultural roots.

Fans can look forward to an electrifying performance from Mbilia Bel, known for her powerful voice and captivating stage presence, alongside the iconic Bana OK Jazz, a group that emerged from the legendary TP OK Jazz Orchestra of the late Franco Luambo Luanzo Makiadi.

Led by Manda Chante, Bana OK Jazz will bring their classic rhythms, evoking nostalgia while infusing fresh energy into the festival atmosphere.

Arriving on Tuesday with her full band, Mbilia Bel expressed her excitement to return to Kenya, a place she considers her second home.

“Mbilia Bel is thrilled to be back and ready for another round of entertainment in a country she regards as her next home,” said promoter Jans Nsana. The performance will feature some of her most beloved hits, including Nakei Nairobi (“I’m Going to Nairobi”), Esio Wapi, and Kadanse Mudanda, promising to transport fans into the heart of rhumba.

The festival also honours the 35th anniversary of Franco Luambo Makiadi’s passing, celebrating his enduring impact on the African music scene.

Nsana encouraged fans to attend, saying, “The Pan African Festival is more than just a concert; it’s a celebration of unity, culture, and community.”

Attendees can enjoy African-inspired cuisines, crafts, and cultural displays, and VIP tickets are priced at Ksh 5,000, while regular seating is available for Ksh 2,000.

With a lineup of skilled DJs and music professionals like DJ Darius, the evening is set to be a high-energy experience for audiences of all ages, celebrating Africa’s musical heritage. Gates open at 6 p.m., inviting rhumba fans to a night filled with music, culture, and connection.
