Police in Transmara East are investigating an incident where a female teacher allegedly hit a student with a shoe, injuring her.

The female teacher at Kabolecho Secondary School in Transmara East Sub-county allegedly hit the Form Three student with a high-heeled shoe for speaking in vernacular.

Confirming the incident, Transmara East Sub-county Police commander Boniface Musyoka Kavoo said the victim was caught by one of the female teachers speaking in the vernacular at the school compound and whisked to the staffroom.

"We have received a report of a Form Three student of Kabolecho Secondary School who was hit with a shoe on the head by one of the female teachers at the school, and we are investigating the incident," Kavoo said.

The student said that while in the staffroom, she could not explain why she was speaking in vernacular, prompting the teacher to hit her on the head with a high-heeled shoe.

Two other female teachers who were in the staffroom allegedly descended on her with kicks and blows while one of the male teachers whipped her.

The student escaped with a head injury and was treated at Ndanai sub-County hospital in Bomet County and issued a P3 form. Efforts by The Standard to get a comment from the school principal were futile as calls to her phone did not go through.
