NAIROBI, KENYA: After the Magistrate’s Court adjourned the hearing of a criminal case against advocate Kethi Kilonzo last year on grounds that the prosecution had not served witness statements to her lawyers, the case did not commence due to the same on Monday.
Kethi has told the court that she has not been issued with witness statements despite several appeals by her counsel to the prosecution so that she can prepare her defense.
The court heard that since September last year when she was arraigned in court, she has not had a chance to know the allegations laid against her.
Under a certificate of urgency through her counsel Julie Soweto, Kethi said the conduct of the proceedings is oppressive adding that the prosecution has continued to contravene her constitutional rights.
