Numerous challenges facing the health sector in the county have been attributed to staff allegedly 'stealing' medical facilities and drugs. Some health centres only provide painkillers.
At Matungu Sub County Hospital, residents blame staff for giving them painkillers yet the county says it had stocked drugs in all health facilities.
Governor Wycliffe Oparanya said: "Stealing of drugs and other facilities is a challenge we face. We aim to stop it."
He spoke yesterday at Navakholo Sub County Hospital when he flagged off new ambulances.
Kenya Red Cross Society's Secretary General Abbas Gullet said they have partnered with the county to hire their services after ambulances purchased by former governments broke down due to misuse.
