Importance of weight noting

By Halima Gladys

There is cause for worry when you start losing weight without programming your body to do so. Losing weight is an uphill task even while on monitored diet, exercise or when there is unexplained loss.

It may be the sign of an underlying health condition that may have developed. It can also be a signal that how you eat and exercise, is not promoting healthy body stability. Only by recognising that you’ve had unexplained weight loss, will you then be able to examine the reasons why this is happening.

One of the major reasons for unexplained weight loss is a stomach virus, or disease that you may not otherwise be aware of. Most of these conditions will be accompanied by various noticeable symptoms, and hence the importance of checking your weight occasionally.

Certain intestinal and stomach parasites that survive by leeching off the nutrients in the food you eat can consequently make you lose weight, even when you’re eating the same amount of food that you usually do. If you’ve been overly active for other reasons, such as being stressed at work, running around to do errands or chores, you may end up burning more calories and lose weight without realising it.

Skipping certain meals, or having a smaller quantity, or lower in overall quality may result in unexplained weight loss, which is hard to put back. To avoid curious gapes from people, always have your weight in check.
