Youngster Muigua surprises veterans to win at Kitale while Pandit tops at Windsor

Youngster Elvis Muigua surprised veteran Golfers after being crowned this year's Trans Nzoia Open Golf Champion that ended at the par 73 Kitale Golf club course on Sunday evening,

The 19-year-old Muigua from Kiambu Golf Club rounded up the three day's tourney with a combined total of 226 gross to emerge the overall winner and also bagged Sh81,000 as the winning prize money.

Muigua started off round one on a two over par 75 gross, played a six over par 79 in the second day and came out blazing in the final day three with a one under par 72 gross to lead the leader board.

This was among of the ongoing 26 Golf series organized by the Kenya Golf Union (KGU) being played across the Country.

Uganda's Godfrey Nsubuga from Mehta Golf Club was second on a total of 227 gross having played 77,77 and 73 gross n the three days and went home a happy man with Ksh.48,000.

He was ahead with four strokes against Vet Lab's Ebill Omollo who collected a total of 231gross winning himself Ksh.32, 000.

The Amateurs will now be moving to Kenya Railways Golf club course in the Capital City of Nairobi for the Railways Invitational tourney from 6th to 7th May and later to the Njoro Golf Club for the Ronald Marshal & Toby Gibson Cup tourney from 20th to 21st May.

The grand finals will be held at the Coast in December where the Golfer of the year will be named and crowned.

Meanwhile Abhishek Pandit beat a team of 150 golfers to emerge the overall gross winner of the ongoing 2023 NCBA Golf Series played at the Windsor Golf Hotel and Country Club over the weekend.

Pandit braved the cold weather to produce an impressive score of 79 gross, earning a slot in the Grand Finale to be played later this year.

Avnish Bhandari took home the Men's Category title with 80 gross points on count back after tying on the same score with runners up Gary Zeller.

Phyllis Kimbo was the Lady winner with 95 gross while Rahab Karoki settled for the runners up slot on 99 gross and youngster Nathan Kania claimed the juniors' category with 104 gross.

The NCBA Golf Series fully sponsored by NCBA Bank features 16 senior's qualifier events held across the East African region and a junior's tournament that will be held at the Coast.
