Inter-School 2022 Junior Golf Tournament: Kimathi and Co retain Lisle Shaw Memorial Trophy

Defending champions Premier Academy retained the 2022 Lisle Shaw Memorial Trophy after emerging the overall winners in the Inter-School 2022 Junior Golf Tournament played at Royal Nairobi Golf Club Course on Wednesday.

The school that submitted three teams for the main event led by the captain Lee Kimathi brought a combined score of 249 gross to defend the title.

Their win came after the team consisting of Lee Kimathi carded 79 gross, Junaid Manji played 80 gross, Ishan Samani brought 84 gross and Mitansh Thacker added 91 gross.

Kimathi,Manji and Samani were part of the team that won the trophy in 2021 with Thacker joining the winning group.

The Lisle Shaw Memorial Interschool Tournament is held annually in memory of the former Kenya Golf Union (KGU) chairman George Lisle Gordon Shaw.

Rosslyn Academy team of Jelani Kihanya with 88 gross, Audrey Gachora on 83 gross, Hazel Kuria playing 95 gross and Chanelle Wangari adding 79 gross for a combined total of 250 gross were the runners up.

Oshwal Academy Junior High on a total of 279 gross brought from a combination gross score of Kushagra Sharma 85 gross, Krish Beiju Shah 84 gross, and Matthew Mbogo 110 gross to share the third slot with Crawford International School consisting of Austin Gitahi (96 gross), Bradley Kinyua (91 gross), Leo Gitonga (92gross) and Manav Sarit Shah (96 gross).

Braeside School won the subsidiary category with a team score of 159 nett from Lucius Tumelo who had 82 nett, Guanze Wang with 77 nett and Kareen Kariuki with 111 nett.

Peponi House team consisting of Shayani Savani (76 nett) and Theuri Kanyogo (92 nett) was second on a total 168 nett.
