Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has rubbished the wild social media rumours that he was set to quit the reigning Premier League champions.

With the Reds in a poor run of form, doubts have been raised over whether or not they will finish in the top four of the table this season.

Saturday's 3-1 reverse to Leicester City at the King Power Stadium left Klopp's side down in fourth, just over a month on from topping the table.

Rumours began to circulate on Saturday about Klopp's future at the club, with the Liverpool boss having also recently received the sad news of the death of his mother.

But speaking ahead of Tuesday's trip to face RB Leipzig in Budapest he said that leaving the club has never entered his head.

"Did I get the sack or did I leave by myself?" he joked. "I don't need a break.

"Privately, we had a tough time, that was a much longer time already and we always deal with it as a family 100%."

Liverpool supporters unveiled a banner supporting Klopp outside Anfield on Sunday, and the Reds boss says he's ready for the challenge of turning form around.

"I heard about both [the banner and the rumours]," he said.

"The banner was nice, I don't feel that I need special support in this moment but it's nice. I don't need a break.

"I am fully of energy, honestly. I see an interesting challenge. We will sort it by playing football, we will sort it together by fighting with all we have. That's the plan.

"Nobody has to worry about me.

"We do this for the people. I feel the responsibility so much when things don't go well."
