Harry Maguire big doubt for Newcastle tie – Solskjaer confirms

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has confirmed captain Harry Maguire picked up an injury during England’s UEFA Nations League tie against Denmark and could miss the team’s Premier League trip to Newcastle.

Speaking to MUTV, Solskjaer revealed Maguire ‘picked up a little knock’ before he got a red card for a harsh challenge on Denmark’s Kasper Dolberg.

Maguire picked up a second yellow after 31 minutes, after having committed a foul earlier on Yussuf Poulsen.

“Harry seemed to pick up a little knock just before he got sent off. So we’re having a look at him today to see how he is. You never know [how players are injury wise] until they get back and we have had a look at them. I think, and we hope, everyone has come through okay.

New signings Facundo Pellistri and Alex Telles are also doubts for the trip to the Magpies – the young Uruguayian being looked at as a future talent, while the Brazilian still resting as a result of his World Cup Qualifier trip from South America.

“Of course, Alex has travelled all round the world. He flew overnight and got here on Thursday,” said Solskjaer.

“He’s a young boy coming from Uruguay. It’s the tradition we have here where we want to bring young players in and let them grow and develop and become the player they can be,” Solskjaer explained on Pellistri.

“Of course we’ll give him time. He’s more one for the future than now, but he’s exciting and he’s shown some things in training that we don’t really have here. I’m looking forward to helping him develop and helping him settle,” he added.
