Nyanza Region Secondary Schools girls’ under-19 football champions Nyakach Girls High School head coach Chrispin Odindo is confident his team will emerge victorious when national secondary schools Term Two games start tomorrow in Kisumu.

Nyanza, being the host region, will have two representatives in both U-19 and U-16 football contests, where Nyakach and Kisii County champions Gesero Girls will be seeking to lift their maiden trophy.

North Eastern Region will not have girls’ football teams in the championships.

In an interview with the Standard Sports, Odindo said he is confident his girls will continue with their dominance in the game that has seen them go unbeaten from the sub-county level.

“We have prepared adequately for the nationals. The girls have performed very well in friendlies we’ve played and there cannot be anything more than a better performance when the national games begin on Tuesday,” Odindo said.

The Lakeside champions will face Nairobi County giants Dagoretti Mixed, Karugwa Girls from Eastern, Rift Valley queens Itigo Girls and Odindo has cautioned his girls to be careful.

“National games involve a different level of playing and I believe teams that qualified for this stage are the best. Therefore, we are going to be careful in our fixtures,” he added.

Odindo will be banking on their top goal scorer Mercy Akoth and Faith Omuyako who impressed during the regional games to get the goals as they aim to improve on their last performance in the national games.

Nyakach last played in the national games in 2016 where they were knocked out in the semis.
