Craig Shakespeare takes temporary charge of Leicester after the sacking of Ranieri

Craig Shakespeare has been appointed manager of Leicester City until the end of the season

Craig Shakespeare is set to remain as Leicester boss until the end of the season.

Shakespeare took caretaker charge after Claudio Ranieri was sensationally axed just nine months after winning the title.

Since then, Leicester have won back-to-back matches to climb away from the relegation zone.

Saturday's 3-1 victory over Hull took the Premier League champions up to 15th, five points clear of Middlesbrough in 18th.

And the Leicester board are set to offer him the job until the end of the campaign.

It remains to been if Shakespeare will continue in charge next term at the King Power but he has admitted he wanted the job on a permanent basis.

After the win over Hull, he said: "My remit was to win these two games and that's what we've done," he said.

"The owners will make a decision for the good of the club and until I talk to them I don't know what that will be. But as I have said previously, I'm comfortable with that.

"I can't control it and there's no point worrying about it."

The former Foxes assistant has the full backing of the Leicester dressing room, with Danny Drinkwater showing his support earlier this week.

"We will support any manager who comes in, but you know every player probably knows Shakes more than anyone else," said Drinkwater.

"If he does get it then it would be a good fit. We have known him a few years and a few of us have known him a long time, if he does we will support him all the way."
