Migori Youth Talent Academy (MYTA) beat defending champions, Diaspora 4-2, in post-match penalties in a tie that was staged at Jovena Grounds on New Year’s Eve to win the just concluded Migori Youth Peace annual tournament.

The exhilarating encounter, had MYTA dominate play contrary to expectations by fans who had tipped Diaspora to retain their title. In regular time, the match ended in a stalemate and hence had to be squared out in post-match penalties.

Former Ulinzi Under- 20 skipper Gideon Ogweno who has been on Sony FC’s radar, was the hero of the day after carting two saves to enable his side clinch the trophy. MYTA director Abdi Aziz was impressed by the level of competition in the tourney, urging corporates to come on board and support the noble course. He also thanked well-wishers for the support throughout the tournament.
