How The Nairobian took over Naxvegas

Living
nax vegas; miss bum bum
Sauti Sol thrilled the fans. Miss Bum Bum was graced Vera Sidika

A fortnight ago the crème de la crème of showbiz and political world congregated under one roof during the All-White Party hosted in honour of celebrated event organiser Kevin Ombajo aka Big Kev. This was after his third open brain surgery to remove a recurrent tumour in his brain.

As various stakeholders mingled, I got a chance to catch up with Music Copyright Society of Kenya’s Maurice Okoth on the current state of the music industry and their troubled relationship with artistes. The society’s sour relationship with artistes has played out in the media over payment of royalties.

According to Maurice, MCSK has done more for local artistes for them to tarnish the body’s name. “Our relationship with artistes on a one on one basis is fantastic. We are like brothers and sisters yet when they get frustrated; they rush to the media to tarnish our name.

We have had a few flaws but we are definitely headed the right way,” said the rather infuriated boss before getting into a light mood and joking with Wahu and nameless. “Artistes should work on better relationships amongst themselves and us instead of trying to fight each other,” he added. Such feuds have been displayed with the most recent being the Bahati – Willy Paul saga on social media.

Last Friday I linked up with Mombasa’s king of showbiz Eric Omtere at Tamasha Hurlingham. Omtere is in the city scouting for models and actors for an upcoming TV show. The promoter popularly known as Virgin Boy indeed confirmed that he has managed to abstain from sex throughout his adult life, even though he is always surrounded by models.

On Saturday morning despite experiencing car issues and numerous police blocks, I managed to drive to Nakuru for The Nairobian takeover party at the Nakuru Athletics Club grounds. Despite a heavy downpour that left the grounds that had earlier been the venue for the Great Rift 10-A-Side, Nakuru diehard fans thronged the venue . The attraction was Sauti Sol’s performance and Vera Sidika’s selection of bootylicious beauties who were facing off in the Miss Bumpy Bum contest.

“I wish I could be let on stage to touch and feel whether their rears are real or padded,” a mesmerised fan was heard saying. As usual the boy band did not disappoint.

Later on after the show I joined Sauti Sol for their own after party at the latest joint in Nakuru, NaxVegas, where curious fans and a bevy of beauties rushed to have a picture moment.
