Your honeymoon is more than likely the biggest trip you will take with your favourite person. When planning for the exciting trip, it’s hard not to feel pressured to pull it off perfectly.

As much as the wedding planning process was stressful and hard, you don’t need to make your honeymoon just as stressful. It is a chance to relax and recuperate after months of planning for the big day. Your honeymoon is a trip of a lifetime and it should be the easiest and most stress-free thing to do.

An important tip is to never overspend to avoid starting your marriage in debt. Therefore, choose a honeymoon destination that you can comfortably afford and, at the same time, enjoy with your spouse. For both of you to have many more vacations together, you need to plan well and save accordingly. Know your priorities. Here are a few ways to plan a romantic honeymoon.

Pick a convenient time

Go on your honeymoon at a time that’s best for both of you! Do what’s best for you the two of you and plan a date that will favour both your work schedules. Don’t make your spouse come up with crazy excuses to miss work for your getaway. Do it at a time you are both free and available.

Agree on things to do

It is important to first agree on how much time you will spend relaxing, lazing indoors and site seeing. You need to discuss the ideal days to do different things. Have a time frame so as not to forget anything and so that everyone’s activity of interest is covered.

Agree on the destination

Most times when couples plan to go for their honeymoon, they tend to disagree on the destination because each person has their own bias. If you find it hard meeting minds, compromise and go to a neutral destination instead.

Book the hotel in advance

While making your bookings, ensure that you let the hotel know it’s your honeymoon. They will be able to accommodate you in a better room or suite and some hotels may decide to go the extra mile to surprise you with flowers, chocolates or a bottle of champagne. Also, once you arrive at the reception, the booking process will not be as hectic as it would be if you were checking in.

Save enough money

To make your honeymoon unforgettable, you need to start saving in advance so as to have a great time. There’s nothing worse than or as embarrassing as going on your honeymoon and realizing that you don’t have enough money to do much. Have enough money for your hotel stay, flights (if any) and for touring.

Enjoy yourself

This is probably the only time you will get to enjoy being together before returning back to your normal lives and regular routine. Did someone say kids? Kick back and enjoy yourselves. It is your honeymoon so try not to make it all about money, just relax and have a blast!

Take pictures

You need to capture forever memories because a picture is worth a thousand words. Make sure you capture all the special moments that reflect and show your romantic experience without much to say. The pictures can be put up in your living room or bedroom walls which will help you cherish your honeymoon for your entire lifetime.

If you could travel back in time, who would you want to meet?
