Five advantages of studying online

Online learning has taken shape inKenya and is gaining traction as more efficient and valuable method of learning to regular classroom programs.

According to a study conducted by SRI International for the US department of Education revealed that online students actually perform better than those receiving a more conventional education.

Here are the advantages of online learning:

1. Accessibility

Online learning is vital especially to students with mobility limitations as it provides flexibility in engagement. You can work at your own pace at the comfort of your home or workplace.

It has also made a variety of resources, including subjects and topics easy to access provided one has access to the internet.

2. Flexibility

With online learning, one gets to choose how, when and where they want to study. You can choose to have your class in the morning, in the library or at home depending on your preference.

You can adjust class attendance according to your schedule and can easily attend classes while working or managing your business. It gives you room to grow not only in your education life but also in your own work pursuits.

3. Networking made easier

Studying in a fixed area limits the students you will interact with. However, online study helps to broaden your professional network.

You will be able to connect with a diverse range of people from all over the world. You get to learn from them, learn different ways to approach challenges and also develop teamwork values.

Getting such contacts will also be useful to you in future when you need business associates and their knowledge.

4. Studying at your own pace

It is common knowledge that we cannot all learn at the same speed. Online learning gives you the opportunity to learn at your own pace.

There is no deadline to beat in online classes and you can therefore review and digest information in a way that you feel satisfied with.

You also choose the speed and intensity that you are comfortable with

5. Money Saving

Online courses are cheaper compared to studying at a physical place. Transport and parking costs are reduced and also the fee payment is not the same as on-campus studying.

For parents the cost of childcare is reduced as they are able to study at home.
