Male gossip is about joining forces

By Malcolm Rex

Good people, now that the Olympics are over, the grooms have to find another reason to keep going to Small Den. In as much as Ras is still preoccupied with Jackie, his newfound love, TJ and I are getting goose pimples any time we think of staying home with our mamas.

Fortunately, the ever resourceful TJ came up with enough gossip to occupy the evenings.

“By the way, do men really gossip the same way Sweetheart and her kind do?” asked TJ.

“TJ, ever since we became friends and Small Den became our headquarters, what do you think we have been doing? I may be a man and would not consider gossip as one of my past times, but I dare you to google the word ‘gossip’ and see whether you will not get more hits than there are stars in the universe. TJ, gossip is trendy and juicy,” I reminded him.

Male gossip, I told him, is mostly about catching up on the things that happen in the ‘hood’ as opposed to the small talk about other people. Besides, gossip is always a popular subject and acts as a great conversation starter. That is why there can be no gossip that is less than three sentences. A creepy item can push the discussion for hours on end.

Male gossip is more of strengthening the bond between two friends and explains why men will always tell such racy tails over a beer. It allows us to join forces against a third person, and is a good change from the usual ‘how-is-the-weather’ kind of talk.

Make sure you stay current. Get to know the kind of car your buddies are driving, where they bought a house, the girl they are dating or their current job. A word of caution: If you are looking for a promotion, don’t badmouth you boss!

Grooms, keep your gossip polite and elegant always, and you will have nothing to fear.
