Kenyans are set to face-off with hosts Zambia in the Lusaka International Championships.

Coming only a few weeks after the national women team defeated United States of America in a 21-Goal Kenya International Championships at Manyatta Polo Club in Gilgil last month, the team of handicap 5.5 Casimir Gross, Jammie Murray (3.5), Jose Craig (3.5) and Archie Voorspuy (2.5) is ready to conquer the Zambians.

The Kenyans will be allowed to test the Zambian horses a week before the tournament next week. The quartet is not ready to disappoint and is ready to overcome the hosts, home and away, just like they did two years ago.

The team featured in the Friday Senior Championships of the Connaught Cup, where they defeated Captain Select 8-7.5 before Tusker Malt whipped Tanqueray 9-8.5 to emerge Connaught Cup champions.

Nairobi Polo Club chairman Raphael Nzomo said the team has had enough preparations as they get ready to also tackle Brazil in another international assignment, dubbed Kenya International Championships.

“The team has prepared well and hope they excel in Zambia. The tournament will help them get in shape ahead of their fixture against Brazil,” said Nzomo, who is also an international umpire.

The Brazilians are expected in the country on September 16-18 for a 6-Goal-competition that will allow them test the Kenyan horses before the Kenya 10-Goal International Championships on September 23-25.

After beating Captain Select, the national players were distributed into different sides in the Connaught Cup, with International handicap 5.5 Casimir teaming up with his sister Tiva (Gross) for Tusker Malt to conquere Tanqueray 9-8.5 and emerge Connaught Cup champions at Nairobi Polo Club, over the weekend.Casimir scored six goals while Tiva and Harry Stichbury scored the rest for Tusker Malt.
