Miss Kenya off to London

After scoping Kenya’s premier and most coveted beauty pageant, Miss World Kenya 2014 Idah Nguma left the country on Wednesday to London for the global showcase event to be held in at ExCel, London on December 14. 2014. Over 125 countries have confirmed participation. Idah and the other participants will be competing for the prestigious crown currently held by Megan Young of Philippines.

The Miss World pageant is the oldest surviving major international beauty pageant. It was created in the United Kingdom by Eric Morley in 1951. Since his death in 2000, Morley’s wife, Julia Morley, co-chairs the pageant.

Interstellar at I-Max Theatres

Crème for Kiruka Festival

The 2014 Tandawazi Festival The Tandawazi Festival is a festival focusing on movement, art and music. This year’s edition brings together artistes from Kenya and various parts of the world to create an exciting performance. The show features artistes of different genres such as Samba Afrika, Slum Dancers, Capoeira, yoga, break dancing, contortionists, contemporary dance, drumming and Afro-salsa. The festival goes down at various places including The Ballet Studio and Ukumbi Mdogo starting today until next Wednesday.

Size 8, Shaffie for PRC Open Day Property Reality Company hosts its open day at Utalii Grounds tomorrow. The event features live performances from Size 8, Willy Paul, Madtraxx, H_art the Band, DJs Incredible and Evolve with Shaffie Weru as the emcee.

Kaytrixx in Juja The Spin Cycle parties and tours pitch camp at Capital Lounge in Juja tonight. Kaytrixx the Entertainer and Mista Scream are the headline acts. Entry is two beers.

Carnivore hosts Kenya Party Entertainment outfit 6AM Kenya presents a one of a kind musical concert dubbed the Kenya Party at Carnivore restaurant, tomorrow night. Kafii, Donben for Africa Connect Indulge in the best of African culture courtesy of the Africa Connect concert that goes down at Tree House on Museum Hill tonight. This is the West Connect edition and focuses on the western region of the African continent. There’s plenty of food, drinks, dance, fashion and music with DJs Kafii and Donben on the decks. Advance charges are Sh600 and Sh1,000 at the gate.

An Evening of Afro Jazz The popular jazz series An Evening of Afro Jazz with Ricky na Marafiki, celebrates what has been nothing short of an eventful year at Alliance Française, Nairobi this coming Tuesday. This edition is dedicated to those who have graced the concert from its inception and have enjoyed this unique musical journey. Maestro Dan Aceda alongside Ricky na Marafiki band are the headline acts. Charges are Sh500.

Jazz in Folk Concert Sizzling Barbeque Rhythms presents a chilled out concert and garden show: the Jazz in Folk Afternoon Barbeque at Benga House Gardens behind Nairobi School tomorrow afternoon. This is a guaranteed fun time for music lovers with live performance from Ghana’s self proclaimed soul god Delasi. Remember to carry lessos and shukas for this ideal picnic setting. Food and drinks will be on sale at the event. Advance charges are Sh500 and Sh700 at the gate.

Rift Valley Fashion at Pearl The first annual Rift Valley Fashion Week goes down at the Pearl Hotel in Eldoret next week. The event gives designers and fashion houses from the 14 counties in the Rift Valley region a platform to showcase their cultural diversity through fashion. Charges are Sh500 for regular tickets and Sh1,000 for VIP.
