Content creator Murugi Munyi revealed her decision to abstain from alcohol after a near-death encounter that deeply affected her.

Speaking through her Instagram, she shared, "For some reason, you people don’t believe me, but let me tell you guys… what I went through last week, even the word alcohol is making me want to throw up… I don’t think you people understand how I was feeling last week Saturday."

Despite her earnestness, some of her followers responded with memes and light-hearted comments, casting doubt on her declaration.

However, she urged her audience not to trivialize her decision and assured them that time would prove the depth of her commitment, saying, "Wait for it to be three months, 6 months, a year, and you will know that I was serious… That’s how bad it was."

During an interview with Lynn Ngugi, Murugi disclosed the challenges her family faced, notably her sister's decade-long battle with alcoholism.

She detailed the emotional toll on her family, recounting her father's absence due to his own struggles with alcohol and her sister's ongoing journey with addiction.

Expressing empathy, Murugi acknowledged, "The true weight of addiction is something you can’t fully comprehend until it touches someone close to you. Presently, my sister is in rehab, a positive step forward. We know her whereabouts, and she is receiving the necessary care."
