In 2023, it seems that DJs are taking the spotlight in the marriage scene. Just weeks after DJ Bonez's wedding to former Kiss presenter Kamene Goro, another DJ is ready to leave the bachelor life behind.
Deejay Slahver surprised his girlfriend, gospel musician Nicah the Queen, with a well-choreographed proposal that he organized with the help of their close friends.
In a viral video, Nicah was blindfolded and led to an open area where Slahver was down on one knee, holding the ring, and her two daughters from a previous union were present.
Nicah, who is the ex-wife of comedian Dr. Ofweneke, with whom she has two children, disclosed her desire to get married this year on social media.
She also revealed that she had received 12 marriage proposals from both local and international suitors since separating from her ex-husband.
One of the proposals stood out to her as particularly strange. "In one proposal, a mother proposed to me on behalf of her son who was abroad. How crazy was that?" she said.
Nonetheless, she expressed her love for her new partner, who is also her manager, and acknowledged their shared religious beliefs.
"I was never ready until I met you. When you love God, you'll never struggle with finding genuine love. I can only say thank you, Jesus," said Nicah.
The couple made headlines recently when they revealed that their relationship was celibate and that they even sleep in separate rooms to avoid temptation.
Nicah emphasized that she is saving herself for marriage, stating, "When you have intercourse outside of wedlock, you attract too many spirits that may be your downfall."
