Mugithi singer Samuel Muchoki, popularly known as Samidoh, has opened up about his struggles with alcohol addiction in a recently surfaced video that has been making rounds on social media.
According to the undated video, Samidoh resorted to heavy drinking as a coping mechanism after he experienced heartbreak.
The singer said that he turned to drinking "bitter" alcohol to deal with the stress that came with heartbreak.
"I used to overdrink. The first time nilikunywanga pombe kali was that period," Samidoh said.
Samidoh explained that he found it difficult to sleep at night and that he would drink to forget his pain and fall asleep. However, this became a habit, and before he knew it, he had become addicted to alcohol.
During the interview, Samidoh was asked by the interviewer whether he became an alcoholic, to which he admitted that he had. He further explained that the more he drank, the more emotional he became, and the more he remembered his pain. Samidoh said that he would drink so much that he would lose track of time and even forget where he was or what he was doing.
"Inafikanga mahali hulali, usingizi hakuna so you have to find something that will make you sleep and forget lakini huwa hausahau the more you are taking that alcohol the more you remember the more you get emotional," said Samidoh.
In an earlier video, Samidoh stated that he got heartbroken by his first love Edday and that he chose to forgive her despite her cheating on him. He attributed his ability to forgive to the grace of God. When asked by the interviewer who broke his heart, he pointed to Edday, adding that he did not have any exes.
