Nana Gecaga celebrates 23 years of sobriety

 Nana Gecaga.

President Uhuru's niece Nana Gecaga couldn't hide her joy while marking 23 years of being sober.

Nana shared her appreciation message on her journey so far.

"It's an extremely important day for me. I am 23 years sober today," she said, adding that the 4th of July is a day she does not take for granted.

She shared her message of hope to those battling alcohol addiction, urging them to continue with the fight.

"I know a lot of people still out there struggling with alcoholism and I just wanna say keep at it and Keep going, the race is with yourself …and as hard as it may be, look for the people around you and don't be ashamed to ask for help. The day that I asked for help, is the day that my life changed," she narrated.

Looking back at where she came from, Nana can't help but be proud of where she is now, a mother of three beautiful kids and the CEO of Kenyatta International Convention Centre. Since her transformation, she now sees herself as strong and independent and takes every day as a blessing.

Gecaga invited everyone to celebrate her journey and sent congratulatory messages to those on a similar path to hers despite the time or addiction differences.

"And for those struggling, take it very seriously…There's nothing more important than finding your sobriety," Nana said as she expressed gratitude to those who gave a helping hand.

"I just want to thank everyone who has stood by me this far and I'm so proud of the woman I have become and continue to be... happy sobriety day to me," Nana shared.

Nana previously opened up about battling alcohol addiction when she was in university. But unfortunately, the party life saw her watch her dream of being an athlete go down the drain despite qualifying for the Olympics, something she admitted to regretting during an interview in 2018.
