Fans just don't get it, Sauti sol's Savara on cancel culture

 Sauti Sol's Savara.

Delvin Mudigi, popularly known as Savara of the boy band Sauti Sol, has called out on fans quick to judge without understanding the whole picture. Speaking to YouTuber Eve Mungai, Savara told how artistes put in the efforts and when it comes to standing up for their rights, fans are quick to dismiss them.

"The other day Azimio used our song, it was time for us to stand up for ourselves. Politics aside, Kenyans should be reasonable enough to recognised a fact that an artiste has worked hard enough and they are entitled to seek justice. But for someone to say that I can't ask for my right just because it is a political party, I find it really unfair," he said.

Savara noted that it always saddens him whenever fans turn against artistes, forgetting the good times these artistes have created through their crafts.

"It's always very sad that fans easily forget that we have entertained them for the last 10 years. You easily forget that I have made you dance in a club every time you go out for the last 10 years. But when I am demanding for my single right, y'all bash me out," Savara added.

Savara insisted that Kenyans should respect the rights of artistes and not disregard them when it comes to claiming what rightfully belongs to them.

"Fans don't really get it sometimes. The rights of artists should be fought for. Their work is normally on display but they don't get paid," he continued.

Savara further expressed his disappointment in cancel culture, noting that it is unfair. According to him, cancel culture should be used to address more significant issues affecting society and not as an opportunity to kill someone's career.

"Where did cancel culture come from? I find cancel culture really unfair unless someone has committed serious stuff like Bill Cosby's case. You cannot cancel someone's career. Wewe ni Mungu? Who are you to cancel someone? Guys, let's be real and true. I will not subscribe to people who are not true ata kama ni fan," he said.

His sentiments come barely a month after Sauti Sol lost more than 2,000 subscribers on YouTube just a day after threatening to sue Raila Odinga's Azimio Coalition.
