Police officers are investigating a well-crafted syndicate that saw Mombasa showbiz bigwigs con a businesswoman of an estimated Sh400,000 in the pretext of hooking her up with a mega international deal with Dstv’s MTV Base and Channel O music power channels.
The scandal was connected to MTV Africa All Stars concert that took place in Durban last Saturday-and attended by American rapper Snoop Lion as well as Kenya’s sensational urban Camp Mulla group.
Mama Sizo, a popular Mombasa-based German-born singer and investor behind the new Mtwapa Hornets Studio was defrauded of the cash in a series of events said to involve a well-known Mombasa music producer and a celebrated showbiz promoter.
The two are said to have mooted the scheme by lying that they were working with Joy Muthengi, a Nairobi rapper and TV personality at Dstv’s subsidiary music TV stations, who would connect Mama Sizo with recording deals and continental tour worth a million dollars for Hornets Studio-signed artistes. Keep it here as the story unfolds.
