Rising stars: Amos and Josh - The vocal power houses

Rising Stars

Amos and Josh at Standard Group offices for an interview

The mention of Amos and Josh, takes you back to the blended voices of Tusker Project Fame Season 6, where their perfomances unveiled their vocal prowess.

Having released a well-received song ‘Baadaye’ featuring Rabbit Kaka, the duo are on their way to bigger and better things.

The humble duo were glad to give SDE a look into their musical journey.Don’t let their short height fool you, their voices pack a punch.

SDE: How has the music industry taken you so far ever since Tusker Project Fame?

Amos&Josh: So far so good. It has been positive and we are getting to learn a lot from different music artistes like Sauti Sol who have been our mentors.

SDE: What can you say you learnt from TPF since you entered till now?

A&J: When it comes to on-camera, we learnt a lot on confidence and management but off-camera, we learned to relate to people and a lot on professionalism. These are skills that have helped us out in the industry.

SDE: The song ‘Baadaye’ is very emotional. What was your inspiration?

A&J: We wanted to a song to commemorate loved ones, the dearly departed. It is a song to help people out there come to terms with grief and a way to remember all those who have left us.

SDE: What are your thoughts on how ‘Baadaye’ was received?

A&J: We were very surprised. The response has been awesome from guys on social media and we just want to say thank you all for the support out there. No words can express the love.

SDE: What can you say about packaging music and how our artistes are packaging themselves now?

A&J: It all start with the artiste laying out their stand, what music they do and that determines how you can brand yourself. First of all you have to be professional, diligent and manage your image. It’s what is termed as brand investment and you have to look the part of who you are and what you stand for.

SDE: There was a feud between Jaguar and Nigeria’s Iyanya. What was your take?

A&J: The feud can be taken as a wakeup call to Kenyan artistes. Nigeria have developed a good market and broad network, supporting each other. It just shows how much more we can work towards developing Kenyan music industry which is something we can do.

SDE: What should we be expecting from Amos and Josh this year?

A&J: We are currently working on our album and unfortunately no sneak date or month yet but we are working with a number of artistes where we are signed at Patso Entertainment. We will launch it before the year ends and will have a lot of strange collabos and very versatile. We don’t want to rush it so that we can produce good quality sound and music.

SDE: Having come this far, what do you have to say for your fans out there?

A&J: We are speechless when it comes to guys out there. We love you so much. We are here because you believe in us and we are humbled by your support for us.
