Philip hughes funeral;laid to rest

Australian cricketer Phillip Hughes was laid to rest a few hours ago.

The opening batsman, who died last week aged 25 after being struck in the neck by the ball during a domestic match, was laid to rest in his home town of Macksville, New South Wales.

The service was attended by hundreds of mourners including Australia cricket captain Michael Clarke, current Baggy Green stars Mitchell Johnson, Steve Smith and David Warner and former cricketers Shane Warne and Brett Lee.

Australian Prime Minister was also in attendance at the ceremony, which took place in School Hall, Macksville.

The funeral featured eulogies from Hughes' cousin Nino Ramunno and his brother Jason Hughes, who spoke of the siblings' "epic" back yard cricket battles when they were younger.

An emotional Clarke also addressed mourners, saying of Hughes: "So rest in peace my little brother, I'll see you out in the middle."

Hughes died from head injuries he suffered when he was hit by a bouncer during a match on November 25.

He underwent brain surgery and was put into an induced coma at Sydney's St Vincent's Hospital but medics could not save him.
