Riggy G warned us about empty coffers, but do we hear our prophets?

For months, Deputy Prezzo Riggy G warned that the nation's coffers were empty, but no one believed him, until last week, when it emerged that civil servants had not received their March salaries.

Possibly, the reason for our scepticism was that he claimed a paltry Sh93m was the "balance" carried forward from Jubilee to Kenya Kwanza administration, even though this amount miraculously continued to multiply, providing the Sh200m needed for their inauguration ceremony and the several billions gobbled up in local and foreign travels by Riggy G and his boss, Prezzo Bill Ruto.

The two, plus MaDvD had nearly about a billion assigned to buy a fleet of new vehicles, as well as hiring some 50 individuals as Assistant ministers, double the number that the Constitution allows. Put another way, money has never been a problem for Kenya Kwanza; the problem has been how to spend it.

And since Riggy G & Co have been lamenting for months about the state of nation, without a credible roadmap to getting us out of rut, they should have the humility to consult former Prezzo UK and learn how he kept the country going.

I reckon they'd be too proud to do that, but there are things that were working, especially the three years that the economy was in the doldrums due to the ravages of Covid-19.

I don't recall the civil servants missing their pay through that duration.

Not only were salaries paid on time, the "deep state" according to Riggy G, even managed to create "Covid millionaires." That's how well they were doing.
