Lottery winner wears mask to collect Sh129 million prize so family won't demand money

A Jamaican lottery winner wore a Scream mask to collect his Sh129million winnings - so his loved ones wouldn't hound him for cash.

The lucky ticket-holder, who said he “loves money”, donned the ingenious disguise so his friends and family wouldn’t recognise him.

And he even waited 54 days to claim his prize in a further bid to throw money-hungry family members off the scent, Distractify reports.

The Super Lotto victor, known only as A. Campbell, was pictured receiving his enormous cheque and shaking hands with lottery bigwigs while wearing the iconic mask from the Scream film franchise.

He said that he wants to buy a “nice house’ with his winnings, adding: "I like to handle money. I don't beg, I don't borrow.

“I have a little business, so I plan to make it bigger, buy an apartment. I love to have money.”

Mr Campbell, who had 90 days to collect his mega win, also said that he made himself ill from overthinking after he found out he was now a millionaire.

Pictures of the masked winner have gone viral.

According to St Lucia News, he said: “I looked at my ticket and ran into my bathroom and said, 'I won! I won!'

"From the day I found out that I won, I've been sick. My head hurt me for three days because I was thinking so much.

“Wondering if what I've been longing for really come true. I had a belly ache for two weeks, sometimes I feel so much pain I forgot that I had won!"

Campbell, who purchased the ticket in the capital of Kingston, said he found winning numbers, of 10, 14, 16, 25, 27 and the super ball 5, from a dream and purchased the ticket for just over Sh130.

He was the 17th winner of the Super Lotto from Jamaica.

It is not uncommon for lottery winners in the Caribbean to disguise themselves due to the high level of crime and fears they will be badgered for cash from everyone who knows them.

In June last year, a Jamaican woman wore a winking emoji mask to collect her winning Sh129million cheque.

Last year a Jamaican woman pulled a similar stunt and wore an emoji mask to disguise herself .

Known only as N. Gray, the woman wore the cheeky disguise as she collected the prize won in the Supreme Ventures Super Lotto draw.
