A mother claims her three children were ambushed and beheaded by a gang who stole their heads as they fled.
The woman said her children - aged six, eight and 10 - were playing in a stream and were taking buckets of water home when a group of men approached them.
They were set upon and tried to fight the gang - but were killed and executed.
Their mother Cecilia Emberga Agammbuee, from Taraba State, Nigeria, told how she found her children’s headless bodies in “horrifying” scenes.
The mother said: "When they finished swimming, they decided to fetch water with their buckets for use at home.
On their homeward journey, two men suddenly emerged from a farm and grabbed one of my three children in the group by the neck.
While the other children in the group threw away the buckets of water and ran for their dear lives, my two other children decided to fight to rescue their sibling.
The escaped children brought the news home. Immediately, my husband, fellow villagers and I ran to the scene of the attack where we found the headless bodies of the three children in the pool of their blood. It was horrifying.
When I saw their headless bodies, I thought I would die.”
The mother now has just one child left, as she said it “shows how dangerous the country is”.
