Police are investigating an incident where a mother and her two children died after a fire gutted their house in Bonyando village, Kisii South.
Another child who survived the inferno is fighting for his life in one of the private hospitals in Kisii. The father, who escaped the incident unhurt is also admitted to one of the hospitals in Kisii town in shock.
The two children were burnt beyond recognition while their mother is said to have died moments after being rushed to the medical facility.
Kisii County Police Commander Charles Kasses says they are investigating the incident.
"We will be able to establish the cause of the fire once we have concluded our investigations."
It is not clear what could have the fire with reports indicating that the house was not connected to electricity.
The deceased mother identified as Carol is a small-scale trader at Suneka town along the Kisii-Migori road.
