Moments after he was found guilty of killing businesswoman Monica Kimani, Jowie Irungu released a new gospel song titled ‘Nakuabudu’ (I worship you), that speaks of God’s greatness.
The song premiered on YouTube at 2pm on Friday, February 9, 2024, and has already garnered over 150k views.
In the song, Jowie speaks of dedicating his life back to Christ and faith in God’s unconditional love and protection.
"Mikononi mwako Yesu, narejea. Miguuni mwako Yesu, nalilia…” he sings.
The singer also shared a Bible verse, Psalm 150:6 which says, “Let everything that hath breathe Praise the LORD. Praise ye the LORD."
Jowie was found guilty of murdering Monica Kimani, whose lifeless body was found in her apartment in Kilimani, Nairobi, in September 2018.
While delivering her judgment at the Milimani Courts, Justice Grace Nzioka said that the prosecution had proved beyond any reasonable doubt that Irungu was directly linked to the murder.
"All this evidence leaves a strong conclusion that Irungu murdered Monica Kimani," she said.

"The person who killed the deceased did not intend to give her even one minute to survive. It is my considered opinion and finding that the perpetrator intended instant death," Justice Nzioka added.
She said Jowie’s bond has been cancelled and he will remain in police custody until March 8, 2024, when he will be sentenced.
His co-accused, Jacque Maribe, was, however, acquitted, and her parents spoke to the media, thanking God for the outcome of the case.
Her father, Mwangi Maribe, said the past six years have been challenging; emotionally and financially, but friends had offered them unconditional support.
“On behalf of the Maribe family we want to thank the almighty God…it has been a torturous journey, we have suffered emotionally, financially…and everything else, but we thank God that it has come to an end.
“We were never in doubt of the outcome because we knew the facts of the case. I would like to thank our legal team; they have done a wonderful job. We want to thank our friends who have prayed for us all through the years, those who have stood with us as well as a section of the media, not all of you. Some of you have been hostile,” he said.
Maribe’s mother, on her part, expressed gratitude to God, reflecting on the tough times her family endured.
“Many times you don’t understand what is happening and why it’s happening. I’m a pastor and for that reason, I have prayed. I have prayed with others and I want to believe it has not just happened. The Lord has been involved in it and I want to thank everyone who has stood with us,” she said.
