Paramount Pictures has officially announced that award-winning actress Lupita Nyong'o is set to star in the much-anticipated film, "A Quiet Place: Day One."

The studio recently released a trailer for the post-apocalyptic horror movie, offering fans a first look at Nyong'o's involvement in the project.

"A Quiet Place: Day One" is designed as a prequel to the critically acclaimed "Quiet Place" series, originally directed by John Krasinski and featuring performances by Krasinski and Emily Blunt.

This new installment transports audiences to New York City, capturing the harrowing moments of "day one" of the alien invasion that introduces the terrifying creatures known for their blindness but extraordinary hearing abilities, central to the "Quiet Place" narrative.

Nyong'o shared her excitement about the project by posting the trailer on her Instagram account with the caption, “It's about to get Quiet! @AQuietPlace: #DayOne in theaters this June 2024.”

The trailer itself presents a gripping visual of Nyong'o's character and a character portrayed by Joseph Quinn, known for his role in "Stranger Things," as they attempt to survive amidst the chaos and destruction caused by the invading aliens in New York City.

Nyong'o, in a conversation with Entertainment Weekly, shared her insights into the film's setting: “This notion of a quiet New York is one that will arrest many. It's an impossible thing to imagine…. When you live there, you block out all the sound quite naturally. You just forget to hear the sound. I realized how hard it would be to survive in a world that required you to be silent in that particular city.”

Joining "A Quiet Place: Day One" adds to Nyong'o's impressive films. Since her debut in the critically acclaimed "12 Years a Slave" (2013), for which she won an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress, Nyong'o has taken on a variety of roles.

Her career includes performances in "Non-Stop" (2014), "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" (2015), and the live-action adaptation of "The Jungle Book" (2016), among others.

Notably, Nyong'o played a significant role in "Black Panther" (2018) and its sequel "Black Panther: Wakanda Forever" (2022), as well as leading Jordan Peele's horror film "Us" (2019) and starring in the zombie comedy "Little Monsters."

Beyond her screen achievements, Nyong'o has also made her mark on the stage.

In 2015, she appeared in the Off-Broadway production of "Eclipsed," a drama about the captive wives of a rebel leader during the Liberian civil war. Her Broadway debut came in 2016 with the same play, earning her a Tony Award nomination for her performance.
