"Squid Game is back! Wanna play?

 Squid Game

After a three-year wait, Hwang Dong-hyuk, the creator and director of Squid Game, has released a trailer for Season Two. Surprisingly, he initially had no plans to write a second season, given that it took twelve years to convince a network to pick up the show. The Korean drama-horror series was such a hit that viewers began yearning for a second season.

Recently, Netflix released a fourteen-second sizzle reel confirming Squid Game's next season, which is set to launch later this year. In the clip, Season One’s protagonist and winner, Seong Gi Hun, vows to find the organizer of the lethal games. Squid Game Season Two features new cast members from other South Korean shows on Netflix, including "Unlocked," "The Pirates," and "The Last Royal Treasure."

Squid Game Season One was voted one of the most-watched series of all time on Netflix, garnering over 2.2 billion hours of screentime. The series revolves around Seong Gi-hun, a man facing financial hardships, who is invited to play in a winner-take-all tournament for a chance to win $38 million. Desperate, he accepts the invitation and joins 455 financially troubled individuals in the competition. Unfortunately, the game takes a different turn when they realize that losing a challenge has serious repercussions.

This release comes after the show inspired a real-life version of the tournament produced by Netflix called "Squid Game: The Challenge," where contestants competed in a knockout game for $4.6 million. However, a problem arose when players on the show threatened to sue its producers over claims that they experienced nerve damage and hypothermia during the shooting.

For Squid Game Season One, there were shake-ups as some viewers felt a violation of innocent memories since the series depicts murders due to the loss of children's games, such as Red Light, Green Light, or Tug of War, but with a lot more blood. The foundation is that Hwang Dong Hyuk wanted to evoke such a response to tell a moral tale by critiquing the effects of new liberal capitalism and the cruelty associated with it.

Squid Game became an instant sensation, backed by nine episodes filled with plenty of gore and high stakes."
