Old Mutual Towers has issued a statement via their social media channels to address concerns following a fire incident at the renowned UAP building in Upper Hill, Nairobi, during the New Year's midnight fireworks display.

The iconic UAP building became engulfed in flames, accompanied by a thick black cloud of smoke, visible from one side of the towering structure. Spectators, initially reveling in the 2024 fireworks show, found themselves confused as they recorded the unfolding events.

Numerous videos capturing the burning building quickly circulated online, prompting the Old Mutual Tower's social media team to release an official statement to provide clarity on the situation.

Old Mutual's statement acknowledged the occurrence of a minor fire, specifying that it was contained to a balcony on one of the top floors. Despite the alarming visuals, the company reassured the public that the situation was under control, emphasizing that there was no cause for major concern.

“We acknowledge there was a minor incident after the New Year Fireworks celebration at the Old Mutual Tower. This was on the balcony of a top floor and it has since been contained. ,” read the statement.

Old Mutual expressed gratitude towards those who brought the incident to their attention, and the company extended New Year wishes to the public.
