Cassie settles lawsuit accusing Sean 'Diddy' Combs of rape, abuse

RnB star Casandra Ventura aka Cassie and music mogul Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs have settled a legal case a day after she accused him of rape and assault.

The two said they had agreed to resolve the matter amicably without divulging the terms.

“I have decided to resolve this matter amicably on terms that I have some level of control. I want to thank my family, fans and lawyers for their unwavering support,” said Cassie.

Diddy, on his part, said: “We have decided to resolve this matter amicably. I wish Cassie and her family all the best. Love.”

Cassie had accused Diddy of years of violence, sexual abuse and controlling behaviour during the period they dated.

The singer, who was signed to Diddy’s record label Bad Boy in 2005 when she was 19, said she was introduced to drugs and alcohol, causing her to plunge into addictions.

In the lawsuit, Cassie also said she was coerced into participating in sexual encounters with male prostitutes as Diddy watched and recorded.

Described as ‘freak offs’, the incidents are said to have taken place across high-end hotels in the US.

Cassie further accused the rap star of controlling her life to the extent that he had access to her medical records.

She said she feared reporting because she felt the rapper would ‘find another excuse to hurt her’.

Diddy, through his lawyer Ben Brafman, in response, termed the allegations offensive and outrageous.

BBC reported that Combs’ lawyer said Cassie had demanded $30m lest she published a book about their relationship.

Brafman further stated that the lawsuit was "riddled with baseless and outrageous lies" and the alleged demand "was unequivocally rejected as blatant blackmail".

Cassie’s lawyer, on his part, said Mr Combs had offered her a payment of "eight figures to silence her and prevent the filing of this lawsuit".

"She rejected his efforts and decided to give a voice to all women who suffer in silence," he said.
