Woman who went viral for locking 'Kanjo Askari' in her car speaks

News
Ntazola Gloria and a city council askari.

Ntazola Gloria, the woman who gained widespread attention for driving a Nairobi city council askari around in her car, has broken her silence regarding the incident.

On October 19, Ntazola shared a video on her Instagram account to address the situation and said that her TikTok account had been banned due to the viral video.

"Hi guys, so they've taken down my account. I no longer have my TikTok account because of that incident with the city askari. That's alright, but the guy entered my car forcefully without my permission. I was simply trying to park my car in town," she stated in the video.

She went on to say, "And that wasn't his first time. He's done that to me several times, so I was just tired of him. I'm safe, I'm okay."

Ntazola encouraged her followers to follow her new account and mentioned that she might be taking a break from TikTok because the incident had taken a toll on her.

"The way they treat people is not cool. I'll be taking a break from TikTok. It was too much."

The viral video of the altercation depicted Ntazola engaging in a heated argument with the officer, whom she accused of forcibly entering her car for alleged parking violations.

She then began driving with him in her car, calling him out for his behaviour and insisting that she would drive him to her intended destination.

"Why are you acting like this? Did you think you could just get into my car? We're going wherever I'm going. I'll take you to my place right now, and you're not getting out of this car. Why did you enter my car? Are you a traffic police officer? You people trouble Kenyans, and they have enough stress. I'm taking you all the way to Ngong town!"

The officer attempted to calm the situation, covering the camera with his hand and asking, "Why are you doing this to me?"

Her response was, "We're going on a road trip! Didn't you want to get into my car? We'll stay with you until tomorrow... What was my mistake? I was just trying to park."
