Will Smith responds to Jada Pinkett's bombshell

Will Smith has shared his thoughts on Jada Pinkett's memoir 'Worthy', where the actress has shed light on numerous issues regarding their marriage.

According to the New York Times, Smith, through an email, said the revelations sort of 'woke him up' and acknowledged that Jada was more 'resilient, clever and compassionate than he'd understood'.

"When you've been with someone for more than half of your life, a sort of emotional blindness sets in...And you can all too easily lose your sensitivity to their hidden nuances and subtle beauties," said Smith.

This comes after Jada revealed that they parted ways seven years ago and she was shocked when Smith referred to her as his wife during the Oscars when he slapped Chris Rock.

She also claimed Rock once asked her out on a date amid rumours that her marriage was ending.

Jada made these comments during an interview with People magazine, during which she said Chris heard the couple was getting a divorce and decided to shoot his shot.

"I think every summer all the reports would come out that me and Will were getting a divorce. And this particular summer, Chris, he thought that we were getting a divorce. So, he called me and basically, he was like, 'I'd love to take you out.' And I was like, 'What do you mean?' He was like, 'Well, aren't you and Will getting a divorce?' I was like, 'No. Chris, those are just rumours,'" Jada told People.

She said after rejecting the offer, Chris was shocked to learn that the two actors were still together and apologised.

"He was appalled. And he profusely apologized and that was that."

Last week in an interview with RollingOut, Jada also reflected on her friendship with the late Tupac Shakur.

The actress described their connection as a 'friendship-love chemistry' but said it was not possible to take things to the next level.

"If there is such a thing as past lives, I definitely think that Pac and I have travelled a few together.

"There was no chemistry between us...It was like God made us that way. It was like, look, I'm going to put y'all together, right? Y'all are going to be a dynamic duo. But I'm going to tell you right now, I'm going to make it so y'all are not going to be able to get together 'cause that just wasn't the purpose," she said.
