No trial is too heavy to lift: Jalang'o after expulsion from ODM

Moments after he was expelled from the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Party, Lang’ata MP Phelix Odiwuor aka Jalang’o sought comfort from the Bible.

Quoting a verse from the Holy Book, Jalas was optimistic that this too shall pass as he ponders his next political move.

“No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation, he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it,” he wrote.

ODM’s National Executive Committee met on September 6, 2023, to deliberate upon a number of issues, key among them being the conduct of some of the party’s members.

According to a statement sent to newsrooms, the party, after going through a report by the Disciplinary Committee, resolved to expel Jalas, Elisha Ochieng’ Odhiambo (Gem), Caroli Omondi (Suba South), Gideon Ochanda (Bondo), and Tom Ojienda (Senator of Kisumu County) on grounds of ‘openly associating with and supporting activities of a rival political party’.

In July this year, Jalas put up two posts where he was in the company of President William Ruto and maintained that meeting the Head of State with a section of leaders from Nyanza sometime back was not for show.

He further stated that leaders should work closely with the president because if he fails, the entire country fails.

“Our resolve to work with HE William Ruto was not a gimmick! We will support the president and we must support the president!

“When the president loses we all lose! Ruto is Kenya 1! God bless the president and may we work together for our country! Always pray for the president for him to continuously guide and lead the country!” he wrote.

Jalas later put up another post where he was shaking hands with Ruto and captioned it, “Keep this for photo for future use.....Only God knows!”
