It has been three years since the death of Black Panther star Chadwick Boseman and Lupita Nyong’o, who closely worked with him, still has fond memories of their friendship.
In a tribute, Lupita recalled how difficult it was to come to terms with the death of her co-star and the confusion that followed.
She shared a photo taken in Seoul, South Korea, in 2018, narrating how they had learnt to do the baby heart with their fingers.
“Three years ago today, I experienced a singular pain at the news of @chadwickboseman's death. The confusion was so profound that it took months to trust the feeling of joy again.
“This is a photo I took on film at the airport as we arrived in South Korea in 2018. We had just learned to do the baby heart with our fingers. Here Chadwick was adding his suave flare. We spent a glorious 72 hours there, and the memory fills me with so much joy,” wrote Lupita.
Reflecting on his death, the award-winning actress said it was difficult to adjust to life without Boseman but the moments they shared keep her going.
“Death is hard to understand, maybe even harder to accept. But the love generated from the life he lived will fuel every anniversary marking his absence.
“Chadwick may no longer be in our photos, but he will always be in our hearts,” she added.
Boseman has passed away aged 43 after a four-year battle with cancer. The American actor had been diagnosed with stage III colon cancer in 2016 and secretly battled the disease.
