I am comfortable in my skin: Kamene Goro slams body shamers

Former radio Queen Kamene Goro has taken to social media to warn netizens against commenting on her body.

This is after a recent picture of hers went viral and a section of online users assumed she was expectant and congratulated her.

Denouncing these comments, Kamene characterised such messages as both spiteful and uninformed.

“So I woke up this morning to a whole bunch of hateful, ignorant comments on my last post, and I'm floored and amused. I will never understand how it is ones first instinct to be hateful or mean and the crazy assumptions some of you want to place on my life. It shocks and amuses me,” she wrote.

The former Kiss 100 FM radio presenter said she is not pregnant, adding that she is comfortable with her physique and netizens should refrain from commenting on people’s body shapes and sizes.

“I'm not pregnant, if I was trust the whole world would know from day one, not that I need to explain that, and I love my body with all its curves and edges, I owe nobody the kind of body you want or expect me to have, let's just get that straight. Babygirl ako tu sawa, living the life I've always wanted to live, so how about this morning you start working towards living the kind of life you want to live and stop living with that hate in you, utaanza kuchapa,” she added.

However, this is not the first time Kamene has been forced to shut down pregnancy rumours. Sometime in April, the social media influencer was spotted out partying with DJ Bonez and curious fans assumed she was expectant.

“It has got to the point that I am irritated by how people are thinking. Can we get this right? I am not pregnant. Maybe I have added a little weight living my best life but I am not pregnant. Would I be really out there in the clubs, partying and drinking if I was pregnant?” Kamene posed.

Kamene, who was yet to tie the knot with DJ Bonez at the time, added she would not get pregnant out of wedlock.

“If there is one thing about me, I am not about to get pregnant or get children out of wedlock…so can we be done with that narrative? I’m just tired of it,” she added.

Speaking in a previous radio session, the vocal influencer explained that she is not in a rush to have children contrary to the societal norm that expects women to get kids within a certain window.

“I am saying this with all humility, I do not know what it is but between the age of like 22 or sometimes as early as 20 years, up till let us say 33 years.... and this is for chics, by the way, anytime you are having a conversation or you are at a place then someone asks you, 'Do you have kids?' And you are like 'No, not yet' or just 'No'. I don't know why everyone shouts, 'You know you should have kids!” she said.
